Delete your account

Last updated: September 2026

Your account belongs to you, and you can get rid of it whenever you like. No questions, no waiting period, no need to email us. This page explains how it works, what disappears straight away, and what stays a little longer for good reasons. We would rather tell you honestly up front than leave you surprised afterwards.

1.How to delete your account

Four steps, less than a minute:

  • Sign in at lukalia.lu (in the app or in a browser, it is the same site).
  • Go to your profile and then to Security & privacy.
  • In the Account section you will find the button Pause or delete account.
  • Choose delete permanently and confirm. That is it. Deletion happens immediately, not overnight.

Locked out? Write to us from the address you signed up with, at kontakt@lukalia.lu. We will take care of it and get back to you.

Just a break? In the same window you can also simply pause your account for 14 days. Your listings disappear from the marketplace, but your account stays. Sign back in within those 14 days and everything comes back. If you do not, the account is deleted automatically once the time is up.

2.What disappears immediately

The moment you confirm, this data is deleted or made permanently unrecognisable:

  • Your name and email address. Wherever your name appeared, it now only reads “Deleted user”.
  • Password and linked sign-ins, including the connection to your Google account. Signing back in becomes impossible.
  • Phone number, profile picture and your description.
  • All open sessions on all of your devices.
  • Your saved items, both listings and events.
  • All reminders: waste calendar, events, push notifications on your phone.
  • Your automatic chat replies.
  • Club memberships and your replies to club dates. Those carry your name in a separate field, so they go as well.
  • Your administrator roles in clubs. One exception: the very last role in a group is kept, otherwise the club would be left without any administrator and could no longer reach its own data.
  • Your place in the team of a venue, club or company. If you are the main manager and someone else is still in the team, the person who has been there longest takes over (someone whose account is paused only if nobody else is left). Your listings for that entry and their chats go to the main manager. If you are alone in the team, the entry ends: it disappears from Lukalia, its listings are taken off the marketplace, upcoming events are cancelled, contact and company details are deleted, and someone else can take over the entry. Before you confirm, the delete window shows you what happens to each of your entries.
  • The link between you and your search history. The search terms remain as anonymous numbers so we can keep improving search. That they were yours is no longer traceable.
  • Your approximate sign-in location (city and country) and the commune you had entered.

3.What stays a little longer, and exactly how long

  • Your listings: off the marketplace immediately. No one can see them from the second you delete. The photos are permanently removed from storage by a clean-up run 30 days later.
  • Images you sent in chat: those disappear automatically 30 days after being sent anyway, whether or not you delete your account.

After that these files are gone. There is no additional retention period and no just-in-case copy.

4.What we deliberately keep, and why

A few things cannot be deleted without harming other people or breaking legal obligations. We will tell you openly which ones:

  • Your chat messages. A conversation belongs to two people. If we erased your lines, the other person would be left with a torn thread and could no longer see what had been agreed. Your name no longer appears there, only “Deleted user”. What you wrote for a venue, club or company already carried the entry's name and stays with the team.
  • Reports, warnings, blocks and internal notes. Without that trail, someone who harassed others could simply sign up again with a new account and carry on. This protects whoever would be targeted next.
  • The record of your deletion request. We have to be able to prove that we deleted, and when.
  • Club groups, dates and announcements you created. They belong to the club, not to you personally, and would otherwise vanish along with you.
  • Your founder number, if you have one. That is just a position in a count, not personal data.
  • An ended entry as a line in our log. Its name, its type and when it was checked stay, without contact details. That way we can show who decided what and when, and a rejected application can't simply be filed again straight away.

5.Delete individual data without giving up your account

You do not have to throw everything away at once. You can remove a lot yourself while your account carries on as normal:

  • Delete a listing: under “My listings”, on the listing itself.
  • Retract a chat message: in the conversation, press and hold the message (on a computer, right-click) and choose “Remove for everyone”. This works up to 2 days after sending; the text then disappears for everyone in the chat. “Delete for me” and “Clear chat” only remove messages for you, the others still see them.
  • Clear your profile: phone number, description and profile picture can be removed at any time.
  • Clear your saved items and turn off reminders: in your saved items and under notifications.
  • Take your data with you: under Security & privacy you can download everything as a file.
  • Something else deleted or corrected? Write to us at kontakt@lukalia.lu and tell us what it is about. Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure and portability of your data, and we reply within the legal deadline.
